Carroll County man sentenced to life in prison for raping 15-year-old, prosecutor says

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – A Carroll County man was found guilty of raping a 15-year-old girl and sentenced to life in prison, prosecutors said Monday.

On August 8, a Carroll County jury found 43-year-old John Earl Mack guilty of rape, two counts of aggravated child molestation and enticement of a child for indecent purposes, according to Coweta County District Attorney John Cranford Jr.

Following the verdict, Mack was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole plus 30 years in prison.

According to investigators, a 15-year-old girl told Villa Rica police that Mack, who had previously had a relationship with the girl’s parent, sexually abused her on multiple occasions in 2022.

Cranford said the victim was also interviewed at the nonprofit Carroll County Child Advocacy Center, where she said Mack “performed multiple sexual acts with her.”

According to Cranford, the girl said Mack committed the crimes in an abandoned house in Villa Rica and in a house in Fulton County, and Mack “also gave the victim drugs to smoke at the crime scene in Villa Rica.”

Cranford said Mack was previously convicted of second-degree rape in New York State in 2002.
