Carroll County businesses show support for sheriff’s office after deputy shooting

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – Businesses are offering their support to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office after one of their officers was seriously injured in a shooting Tuesday morning.

“When something like this happens, it hits me deeply. And I felt obligated to bring them something to eat,” said Bill Green, owner of Billy Bob’s Bar-B-Q.

Green is just one of many Carroll County residents who felt compelled to do something for the Sheriff’s Office after Investigator Taylor Bristow was shot while executing an arrest warrant.

“The officers gather there, you know, they hug each other, they’re in shock when something like this happens, and the last thing they think about is food, but they have to eat,” Green said.

Ashley Hulsey, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, says they have experienced an outpouring of support from the public.

“This afternoon, numerous restaurants brought us food. You know, that’s what we do here in the South. When you need comfort, you get food,” said Ashley Hulsey.

People are not only distributing food, but also showing their solidarity.

“People really like and support our local law enforcement,” Hulsey said.

“We love our first responders, our police officers, our firefighters, our paramedics. Every day they put their lives on the line for us,” Green said.
