OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Voters in Washington have the opportunity to choose between numerous candidates in their presidential election this year.

The official list of presidential candidates who will appear on the ballot in Washington is almost complete. In addition to the two candidates from the major parties, nine candidates from smaller parties and independent candidates will appear on the Washington ballot.

Among the parties represented is the recently formed Cascade Party, led by Krist Novoselić, co-founder and bassist of the rock band Nirvana. The Cascade Party of Washington was formed earlier this year to represent what Novoselić described as a centrist alternative to other parties in the state.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. of the We the People Party and Jill Stein of the Green Party lead the list of candidates from parties that represent a broad spectrum of political values ​​and beliefs.

The Secretary of State’s office in Washington said ballots will be mailed to registered voters by October 18.

To get on the ballot, candidates must collect at least 1,000 signatures from Washington voters who have not already nominated another party.
