I participated in a caravan from Bend to Sweet Home, Lebanon and Albany to raise awareness that our current 5th Congressional District Representative, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, is not representing me and many others in our newly created district.
While she doesn’t hold impromptu town hall meetings, she does have the time to reliably vote with the extremist Mike Johnson.
I deliver Meals on Wheels in Lebanon and was amazed that Lori voted against funding this necessary program for the elderly.
I also had a question about her stance on a health-related issue and instead of a direct answer I received a standard email telling me she was investigating the case and to please get back to me if I had any further questions! Unfortunately, I don’t think I’m the only person who has been treated so poorly.
Janelle Bynum is more professional and accessible to voters. She has served in the state legislature since 2017 in a different district and now represents the 39th District, which includes Oregon City, Milwaukie, and the northern part of Clackamas County. She would be an excellent choice to represent the 5th District and make a difference in Congress.
