Burrow and the regulars will play on Saturday, confirms Zac Taylor

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Bengals starters, including Joe Burrow, will play at Paycor Stadium on Saturday, head coach Zac Taylor confirmed Thursday.

Taylor said on Aug. 1 that he wanted to give the starters some preseason practice. Burrow has not played in a preseason game the past two years due to a calf strain in 2023 and an appendectomy in 2022.

Taylor did not say whether Burrow and the starters will play a series or a quarter against Tampa Bay on Saturday.

For the Bengals, the season opener can’t seem to come soon enough.

After the players competed against each other all summer, Taylor said, “Our guys are tired of beating each other.”

The head coach’s comment is a response to the scuffle in Wednesday’s practice that started between linebacker Logan Wilson and center Ted Karras.

Saturday’s Bengals game, which airs on FOX19 NOW, begins at 7 p.m. FOX19 NOW will also broadcast Cincinnati’s other two preseason games.

Paycor Stadium underwent a number of upgrades during the offseason, including changes to the stadium’s playing surface.

The players will practice on the new FieldTurf for the first time on Thursday, Taylor said.
