The first Major League Baseball game in Tennessee will be on August 2, 2025, between the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Yes, that’s right. An MLB baseball game is played in the infield of the NASCAR racetrack, which hosts two Cup Series races each year.
Bristol Motor Speedway officials, along with MLB officials and Governor Bill Lee, announced plans for 2025 on Friday.
Bristol Baseball Field Dimensions
Here are the dimensions of the baseball field at Bristol Motor Speedway.
The center field wall will be 400 feet from home plate.
The other dimensions of the field for the 2025 Speedway Classic are 330 feet in right and left fields. The distance to left center is 384 feet and to right center is 375 feet.
Lee joined Bristol Motor Speedway and MLB officials who made the official announcement Friday for the game at the 0.533-mile oval track. Seating will take up about two-thirds of the track’s existing grandstands.
Temporary seating will be set up behind home plate and in the infield of the racetrack.
The field is located in the middle of the infield of the racetrack, with home plate near the front straightaway and center field near Turn 2.
Over 160,000 tonnes of gravel will be brought in to build the stadium and two drainage systems will be installed. Some of the track walls will be removed and replaced for the new configuration. Nets will be installed to protect fans.
Tickets go on sale in early December. Advance sales start in September.
Tennessee Football played against Virginia Tech in Bristol in 2016
Bristol Motor Speedway, which hosts two NASCAR races annually, hosted the 2016 college football game between Tennessee and Virginia Tech. The game’s attendance was 156,900, the highest ever for an NCAA football game.
Tennessee won this game 45-24.
