Brian Kelly updates LSU injury timeline: Sage Ryan, Chris Hilton and others

As Fall Camp progresses, LSU Tigers are struggling with a handful of injuries. Fortunately, none of the injuries seem to be serious, says the head coach Brian Kelly.

Fortunately, Kelly said none of the injuries were serious and expects most players to be back in action soon. That started with Wise Ryan And West Weeksamong other things.

“Pretty good. I think we have a grade I hamstring injury,” said Brian Kelly. “I think we have a sprained foot. Those injuries should improve this week and they should be back to full fitness to prepare for USC.”

Sage Ryan is a versatile defensive back who is entering his fourth season with the program as a redshirt junior. After making 42 total tackles and defending five passes last season, he is expected to make a big impact on defense. West Weeks, for his part, is a linebacker who is entering his third season with the program and played in 13 games last year.

The other two that Brian Kelly gave an update on were Miles Frazier And Chris HiltonBoth are able to return to action soon.

“I think we have a bruised ankle for Miles Frazier. We’ll see. Who else do we have… Hilton has a bruised ankle, but we believe he should be back this weekend as well,” Kelly said. “So, I think three or four guys have the bumps and bruises from training camp, but we’re confident they’ll be back this weekend.”

Miles Frazier is a fifth-year senior on LSU’s offensive line who is again expected to be a key part of a strong unit. Chris Hilton is a wide receiver entering his fourth season with the program. This comes as the program experiences a lot of turnover at that position. In his career, he has 22 receptions for 415 yards and three touchdowns.

All of this happened shortly after the LSU team was battling an illness that affected the entire team. It was a “gastrointestinal virus” that, according to Brian Kelly, particularly affected the offensive line. West Weeks was also one of the players who struggled with the virus. Ultimately, it made it difficult for the team to fully practice and some players were unable to practice.

LSU opens the season on Sunday, September 1st against USC, so it will be important to get healthy before that game.
