Lopez felt soreness in his forearm during a start against the New York Mets on July 28. An MRI scan showed no signs, but the Braves decided to take him out of the game and placed him on the 15-day injured list. Lopez completed a rehab assignment in Gwinnett last week, and Brian Snitker confirmed after Sunday’s game in Anaheim that Lopez would be reinstated in the rotation for Tuesday’s game.
Herget served as an extra arm for the bullpen. He appeared in eight games this season, primarily as a cleanup hitter, and has a 4.38 ERA and a 3.57 FIP in 12 1⁄3 innings.
