DORAL, FLA. (WSVN) – Video from a police officer-worn body camera shows a new image of a social media star accused of a horrific crime because, police say, she put vanity above her maternal responsibilities.

Jessica Renteria, 25, was arrested after investigators said she left her 3-year-old son alone in a Doral apartment while she underwent cosmetic surgery.

Neighbors called Doral police after finding the child wandering alone with a cellphone in the Apex at Park Central complex in the 8400 block of Northwest 104th Avenue on June 27.

Body camera video shows police caring for the child.

“Hey, little buddy, what’s your name?” an officer asked the child.

According to investigators, surveillance video shows the toddler wandering around alone for hours.

Do you know where you live? Do you know where Daddy And mama said the officer.

Investigators said Renteria, known on social media as “the real Pocahontas,” left the boy alone that day to do some chores.

“Have a seat here, OK?” said an officer.

Officers searched the apartment complex and spoke with neighbors to solve the mystery.

“You said you saw him right here?” the officer said.

“My neighbor saw him there. He was sleeping,” the neighbor said.

“Are you sleeping?” said the officer.

“Yes,” said the neighbor.

In search of the child’s mother, police officers knocked on apartment doors.

“This is the police, ma’am,” an officer said in Spanish, knocking on one of the doors.

“Hello, do you happen to have a child missing?” asked an officer.

According to police, surveillance video shows Renteria leaving her vacation home around 10 a.m. Three hours later, her son leaves the apartment.

Investigators found that the child was unsupervised for six hours.

Officials questioned neighbors about Renteria and her son.

“It’s like the girl, the lady, who left her daughter to go on vacation,” the official said.

“Yes,” said a neighbor.

Police found Renteria a few miles away in an operations center.

According to the police report, she told officers that a friend was supposed to watch the child. When officers contacted the friend, he told them, “He knows the defendant, but at no point was he told to watch a minor child.”

Renteria, of DeLand, Florida, was taken to jail in shackles and wearing a robe and headscarf. She was charged with child neglect.

When she appeared in court on Wednesday, an arrest warrant was lifted.

Renteria’s trial is scheduled for December 2. She did not respond to 7News’ request for comment as of Wednesday evening.
