Blake Shelton sings Alabama’s “Old Flame” for the original band

Blake Shelton sings Alabama’s “Old Flame” for the original band

The 1980s called and they wanted to remind you what a good song “Old Flame” by Alabama is.

How to watch

Watch the Season 26 Premiere The voice on Monday, September 23rd, at 8/7c on NBC and the next day on Peacock.

Former The Agree Coach Blake Shelton lent his voice (and guitar) to his rendition of the classic at a Country Music Television event, accompanied by Steve Wariner and Kara Britz, and their three-part harmony singing is simply beautiful.

Blake Shelton covers Alabama’s “Old Flame.”

With two of the band’s founding members in the audience – Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry – the three musicians gave their best, and there is a reason why Shelton and Britz feel so comfortable together: Britz is a member of the “house band” of The voice. She and Shelton have sung together before, including when Britz filled in for Gwen Stefani on their duet “Happy Anywhere.”

Much like the titular old flame, the song brought back memories for those who have loved it for years. On Instagram, one commenter said: “I wish I was there… I had babies to these songs in the 80’s 🎵. What amazing cassettes and CDs they were. Brings back so many memories… Wow!!! Lots of fond memories. Well done to everyone who sang their songs. You made them very 👏👏👏👏.” Another added: “Great trio, great show. Brought back so many memories of their first big hits. WOW I loved these guys then and now!!”

What you should know about Alabama’s “Old Flame”

Written by Donny Lowery and Mac McAnally and released on the 1981 album Feels so right, The song is about the singer seeing the woman he loves looking at her former lover. Even though she told him the relationship is over, he can tell she still has feelings for her ex because the “old flame burns” in her eyes. The song spent a week at number one on the Hot Country Songs chart, according to Billboard.

Blake Shelton honors the greats

The “Pour Me A Drink” singer is always ready to pay tribute to the stars who came before him. He already took part in a live concert honoring Elvis Presley and performed a stirring rendition of “Suspicious Minds.” And his version of Hank Williams Jr.’s classic “A Country Boy Can Survive” is just as passionate as the original. You can catch him performing in Las Vegas soon, where we expect to see a few more excellent live covers.
