BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — Moms, grandmothers and aunts, you are all being encouraged to take more time for yourself and support others as part of an ongoing initiative by the Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers.

It’s part of their Mommy Matters program, where mothers of all ages participate in group discussions for two months to get help with trauma, healing, physical wellness and the daily challenges of life.

Today the focus is on the relationship between mothers and daughters.

“Because this is a very important relationship and sometimes it can be very difficult to navigate. That’s why we wanted to bring mothers, daughters, aunts, godmothers and mother figures together so we can all learn and celebrate together,” said Chandra Redfern, CEO of the BFNC.

Women had the opportunity to listen to panel discussions, hear the keynote address from speaker Chantele Campbell of Best Self, and show off a little at a fashion show.

It’s about giving courage and putting mental health first.

“We believe that communication is key to a relationship, but also helps overcome life’s problems,” said Redfern.
