History of ITBP: It is often seen that if you do your duties with dedication, you will definitely get success. A similar story is that of an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) cadre officer who was appointed as the Deputy Director General (ADG) of the India-China Line of Actual Control (LAC) Security Force. This is only the second time that a non-IPS officer has been promoted to this post in the ITBP. The person we are talking about is Sanjeev Raina. Back in December 2020, 1986-batch cadre officer Manoj Singh Rawat was appointed as the ADG of the ITBP.
Sanjeev Raina, who was appointed as ADG in ITBP, has had a very interesting career. Speaking to AnyTV Hindi, he said that he joined ITBP in November 1987 as Deputy Commandant. After that, he was trained at ITBP Academy Mussoorie. After a year of training, he was initially posted in the India-China border region of Ladakh. After that, he became Deputy Commandant. Later, Sanjeev Raina held the posts of Second Commandant, Commandant of Battalion Command, DIG, SDIG and IG.
Diploma and postgraduate studies in economics
Sanjeev Raina is originally from Jammu and Kashmir but moved to Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh a few years ago as part of his migration. He has completed his graduation and post-graduation in Economics from Jiwaji University in Gwalior city of Madhya Pradesh. In Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, a Naxalite affected area, an incident was committed by Naxalites in which the then SP of Rajnandgaon was martyred. Following this, emphasis was laid on the deployment of ITBP. At the same time, Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) came into being. Sanjeev Raina was also given the responsibility of laying the foundation stone of this school and he discharged this responsibility very well.
What is the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS)?
Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) mainly trains those officers or soldiers who are posted or have been posted in Naxalite affected areas. In addition, soldiers from other police forces of the country are also trained here. In addition, officers from neighbouring countries are also trained here. This school is located at Mahi Danda in Uttarkashi. It is operated from Belgaum. This course conducted at CIJWS is very physically demanding. There is also an age limit. The age of the soldiers should be below 35 years. At the same time, the age of the officers should not be more than 40 years.
For these positions, direct recruitment takes place at ITBP
ITBP is a world-renowned force. Its area of operations is mountainous and inaccessible areas known throughout the country. Anyone can join ITBP according to their training.
