Baltimore Orioles lose best starter of the second half to the injury list

The Baltimore Orioles are in the midst of a very important series of games as they begin the final stretch of the regular season, and they are also in the midst of a bitter battle with rivals New York Yankees for the American League East division title.

Unfortunately, the Orioles suffered a lot of injuries.

Baltimore was forced to place star pitcher Zach Eflin on the 15-day injured list due to shoulder inflammation.

In addition to the Eflin move, the Orioles also placed Keegan Akin on the paternity list. Cade Povich and Dillon Tate were promoted from Triple-A Norfolk to fill those roster spots.

Eflin was one of the big moves Baltimore made before the MLB transfer deadline to increase its chances of making the World Series this year.

Since being signed by the Orioles, Eflin has been an elite player, making four appearances for Baltimore, compiling a 4-0 record along with a 2.13 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 12.5 K/BB ratio and 25.1 innings pitched.

Of course, the loss of this power is a major blow to the Orioles’ rotation.

Hopefully he can start the rehab process and get back on the field as soon as possible. Two weeks out will be tough to take, but Povich has a chance to step up and prove he can play in the major leagues.

Heading into Tuesday’s MLB game, Baltimore has a 73-53 record and is just half a game behind the Yankees in the division race.
