Rosanna Arquette is proud to have been a part of it pulp Fiction almost 30 years after its release – but she didn’t see the entire film for about 15 years!

In a chat with PEOPLE before her appearance at the opening of the 15th TCM Classic Film Festival – where much of the pulp Fiction The cast will reunite – Arquette says she was pregnant with her daughter, Zoe Sidel, when the Quentin Tarantino classic premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 1994. Although she couldn’t make it to France, she later attended a screening while still pregnant.

“I wasn’t in Cannes, I was heavily pregnant and I just remember watching (the film) at the end, with my mother,” says the 64-year-old actress. “My baby started kicking like crazy and I was totally freaking out because of the guns and the violence.”

“So I actually left and didn’t see it for years,” she adds. “It’s a great movie, but I couldn’t (stay) because I was so in my mom mode, so I wanted to protect… I said, ‘This is too much for my baby.'”

Arquette, who plays Jody, the wife of drug dealer Lance (Eric Stoltz), said she thinks pulp Fiction stands the test of time for many reasons, including Tarantino’s “fantastic,” Oscar-winning screenplay and “wonderful,” talented cast.

“At the time (of production), we were just in the thick of it, we were rehearsing, we were working with a great director, but we didn’t know how big it was going to be. But it really was,” she tells PEOPLE.

As for how Tarantino, 61, executed his set, she says, “Quentin is very meticulous, and so we rehearsed a lot, and that was good,” she says. “There was no bad vibe. It was just a good vibe the whole time. I think he started the whole thing where everyone was working toward scale and just doing their job.”

She also says that the filmmaker “came to me” about the role of Jody, “and we met at Swingers, had a milkshake, and he just offered me the part.”

“It was great to be a part of the film,” adds Arquette.

Although she has not been in regular contact with Tarantino recently, Arquette says she would “love to work with him again” and was even in talks for the role of Elle Driver in the Kill Bill Movies at one point.

But “everything happens for a reason,” and the role of the evil, one-eyed nurse ultimately went to the “fantastic” Daryl Hannah.

“I can’t even imagine being anywhere near as good as Daryl in that role,” Arquette tells PEOPLE. “That’s how it was intended.”

For now, the actress is “excited” to attend the TCM event on April 17 and meet some of her pulp Fiction Cast includes John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman.

“I’m looking forward to seeing them,” she says. “I’m proud of (pulp Fiction), but I also love Turner Classic Movies, so it’s really cool to come here and have this film as the opening act because it’s such a great festival.”
