Armstrong native, former Knight, signs with US university

Devin Jameson will use his talent at Drury University in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.

Devin Jameson, a native of Armstrong who played in over 100 games in the KIJHL, is heading to the USA to continue his playing career.

Jameson, who played 110 regular season games for the North Okanagan Knights (now Quesnel River Rush) of the KIJHL, will play for the Drury University Panthers in Springfield, Missouri.

The 20-year-old scored 112 points in parts of five seasons for the Knights, including 16 in the 2023/24 playoff round. At Drury, he will reunite with former Knights Matthew Johnston, KT Walters and Ethan O’Rourke.

“We’re all really close, we might as well go on the same team and enjoy the college experience together,” Jameson said. “I think it’s going to be a great experience. I think we have a pretty good team there with a lot of good KIJHL guys there.”

Jameson is foregoing his final year of junior hockey to make the jump to college hockey, and the presence of former teammates will make that jump easier for him.

“The KIJHL is a great development league, especially for younger players who want to gain confidence,” he said. “Now that I’m in college, I hope I can help the Panthers win a championship.”

In addition to hockey, Jameson hopes to also earn a business degree at the small liberal arts college with 1,369 students.
