The crazy adventures of young Máximo Gallardo (Enrique Árrizon) on his way up the management ranks of Las Colinas, the heartwarming feel-good stories, the lovable characters, the great 80s playlist and the hilarious cast of Acapulco will be back for even more laughs. Apple TV+ has given the hit comedy the green light for a fourth season, just two months after the third part’s finale on June 26.

Eugenio Derbez plays adult millionaire Máximo Gallardo, who recounts his rags-to-riches career in flashbacks. He is also executive producer of the show, which he has described as “Latino.” Ted Lasso, expressed his enthusiasm and gratitude for the renewal.

“I am incredibly grateful to our amazing partners, talented cast and crew, and most of all, the audience whose love and support have made this journey possible. It’s rare that shows focused on Latino stories get this far, and that makes this milestone even more meaningful,” says Derbez. “Representation matters, and Ben Odell and I are deeply proud to continue sharing these vibrant stories on a global stage.”

Derbez and Odell are co-founders and partners of 3Pas Studios, one of the production companies behind Acapulcowith Lionsgate Television for Apple TV+, Zihuatanejo Productions and The Tannenbaum Company. Austin Winsberg, Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman are the series creators. Winsberg is also an executive producer along with Sam Laybourne, who serves as showrunner.

Since its debut in 2021, the family-friendly and nostalgic Acapulco has become a TV series that captivates audiences worldwide. Earlier this year, Winsberg attributed the show’s universal appeal to the diversity of the cast, crew and creative team, who develop funny, relatable stories.

“Young Máximo is someone who wants a better life for himself and his family. The stories we tell are stories from the workplace, love stories, stories of outsiders – these are things that everyone around the world can identify with,” Winsberg said before the AcapulcoPremiere of the third season.

In the third season, we get a closer look at young Máximo’s early mistakes and learn more about each character’s backstory. It turns out that Héctor (Rafael Cebrián) isn’t such a selfish jerk, and somehow the clueless Chad (Chord Overstreet) starts to find his way, while Máximo’s mother discovers other sides to herself. There’s no word yet on the direction of the new season, which is set to return in 2025.

The ensemble of Acapulco includes Fernando Carsa, Damián Alcázar, Camila Pérez, Vanessa Bauche, Regina Reynoso, Raphael Alejandro, Jessica Collins, Chord Overstreet, Rafael Cebrián, Regina Orozco and Carlos Corona. Season three also featured special guest stars Jaime Camil and Cristo Fernández, although it is unclear at this time if the newcomers will return or if new celebrities will appear on the show.

While Acapulco Although the series continues to receive critical acclaim, it has yet to receive any Emmy nominations. However, it is this year’s Imagen Award series with the most nominations, with nine nominations: Best Comedy, Best Actor (Enrique Árrizon); Best Supporting Actor (Damián Alcázar, Carlos Corona and Eugenio Derbez, who was also nominated in the Best Actor category for his role in the feature film radical); and Best Supporting Actress (Vanessa Bauche, Camila Pérez and Regina Reynoso). Javier Nuño and Joe Rodríguez were nominated for Best Music Direction for a Film or Television.

The winners of the Imagen Awards will be announced on September 9, 2024.
