Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter with Larry Birkhead, Dannielynn Birkhead, comes to itself.
After the tragic death of her mother at the age of 39 in 2007, just months after her birth, the teenager grew up with her father largely away from the spotlight in his home state of Kentucky.
And although the former photographer has always kept his daughter out of the public eye, he still delights his fans with occasional updates. The latest one gives a funny insight into his daughter’s personality and hobbies.
Larry took to Instagram over the weekend to share a glimpse into his and Dannielynn’s recent trip to California for the official Power Morphicon Convention, a biennial convention of Tokusatsu, the franchise behind the Power Rangers.
For the special event, Dannielynn, who turns 18 next month, got to dress up as and meet some of her favorite characters. Her father shared photos of her in various costumes and wigs, smiling from ear to ear as she posed for photos with some of the actors from the tokusatsu series.
“Had a great time this weekend at the @officialpowermorphicon in Pasadena, CA thanks to @tokuspirits!” Larry wrote in his caption, adding, “Dannielynn got to meet some of her favorite actors from live-action Japanese TV.”
He continued, “She was so excited to meet @maaaaaaaasahiro (Masahiro Inoue), who plays ‘Decade’ from ‘Kamen Rider Decade’, that she was overwhelmed with joy. She was also excited to meet @yuikoike_official (Gokai Pink) and @ozawa_ryota (Gokai Red) from ‘Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger’. @yasuhisa_furuhara0813 (Go-on Red) from ‘Engine Sentai Go-Onger’ was her other favorite!”

He also revealed details about Dannielynn’s various costumes, adding, “Dannielynn dressed up three different Kamen Rider characters at the event. First up was Hino Eiji, followed by Ankh (@ryosuke.miura216 ), and to close out the convention, she dressed up Ankh possessing Eiji from the movie Kamen Rider OOO 10th: Core Medal of Resurrection, complete with Ankh’s (Greeed) bird-like hand and feather-filled hair.”
InstagramThe fun isn’t over for the father-daughter duo, however, and with Dannielynn celebrating her 18th birthday on September 7, her dad remarked, “This is the first stop and pre-party for Dannielynn’s upcoming birthday party! The countdown begins now!” before hinting that the two may be planning a vacation to Japan.

InstagramFollowing Larry’s sweet update, fans were quick to fill the comments section under the post, gushing over how he indulges his daughter’s interests. One wrote, “I have no idea what you’re talking about or if you spelled it right but you are an amazing dad!!,” and others followed suit with, “You have the coolest father-daughter relationship! You are such an amazing dad!” and, “What a special experience for her!! What fun!” as well as, “Her smile says it all. Great memories.”

Speaking to People last year about this big milestone, her father said, “It’s one of those things that all parents go through. They don’t want their kids to go away, but they know they have to.”
He confessed: “It’s one of those things where she’s just trying to get things, and people are sending her things. And every time I get something in the mail for college, I don’t know if I really want to give it to her because she might take the offer and go to college somewhere.”
