Andrea Bocelli and Tori Kelly unite for a powerful rendition of “Hallelujah”

Andrea Bocelli brings his golden voice to some of Italy’s most beautiful places for his new project. The Journey: A Music Special by Andrea BocelliAnd on one particular song, Grammy winner Tori Kelly joins him on this journey!

The 64-year-old Italian musician reunited with 30-year-old Kelly in a clip posted on Instagram to promote the music special to perform Leonard Cohen’s 1984 classic “Hallelujah.”

In the performance video shared by Trinity Broadcasting Network and Bocelli, the pair each sing a verse of the ballad in front of historic Italian buildings and with several accompanying instrumentalists. While Kelly delivers the first verse in English and Bocelli opts for Italian for the second, their voices combine in a gentle harmony on the song’s iconic chorus.

Bocelli’s latest special, out in April, follows the musician and his wife Veronica on their journey on horseback along the Via Francigena in Italy – interspersed with performances by Kelly, Michael W. Smith, Tauren Wells, TAYA and others.

Bocelli’s new project, which also features his children Matteo and Virginia, will be shown exclusively in cinemas on April 2, 3, 4 and 6 – the week before Easter Sunday.

“Combining world-class musical performances with intimate conversations in the stunning Italian countryside, The Journey: A Music Special by Andrea Bocelli is an exploration of the moments that define us, the songs that inspire us, and the relationships that connect us to what matters most,” a description reads.

The performance will be the duo’s first concert together since they performed “The Prayer” in 2016, a song made famous by Bocelli and Celine Dion. Kelly and Bocelli previously sang “Just Give Me a Reason” by Pink and Nate Ruess at the 2015 MTV European Music Awards.

This isn’t the first time Kelly has tried her hand at “Hallelujah.” The singer-songwriter previously covered the song for the soundtrack of the 2016 animated hit. Singafter she performed it during the “In Memoriam” segment at the 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards and later when she and Luis Fonsi sang it at the 2017 Hand in hand: A donation for hurricane relief Telethon. Bocelli officially released his solo version of the song on his 2020 LP Believe.
