Amarius Mims will be out for several weeks due to injury; positive update on Trent Brown

Amarius Mims briefly addressed his injury, pointing out that it may have been caused by something he had previously struggled with and overworked himself through, which led to the injury that will now cost him several weeks.

When asked if he would return for Week 1, Mims said he was just focused on rehab and wasn’t worried about when he would return.

Amarius Mims will be out for several weeks for the Cincinnati Bengals because the rookie offensive tackle suffered a strained pectoral muscle.

Head coach Zac Taylor announced the news during his press conference on Monday, stressing that it will take more than two weeks.

Taylor added that veteran offensive tackle Trent Brown will increase his workout workload after slowly getting used to it again over the past week.

This is a troubling development for the Bengals’ first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. A big reason Mims joined the Bengals was his inability to stay healthy during his three years with the Georgia Bulldogs. It only took him one preseason game to sustain an injury that could affect his availability in Week 1 against the New England Patriots.

The good news is that Brown was already expected to be a starter, but this is still a setback for the offensive line, as Mims will be playing both positions.

This also increases the likelihood that Jackson Carman will be included in the 53-man roster.
