Alumni announcers join Ben Kelly in the Titan Radio broadcast booth | Titantown Sports

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.– Six distinguished Titan alumni will join our Titan Radio broadcast team as commentators on live broadcasts of the Westminster football season throughout the season. These alumni bring a wealth of experience on and off the field, ensuring that each game is packed with insightful commentary and compelling stories from individuals who have lived and breathed Titan athletics.

Saturday, September 14, 2024: Titan Football vs. Waynesburg (Hall of Fame Weekend) – 1:00 p.m.

Ben Kelly and John Mikulas, ’96

John Mikulas, a 1996 broadcast communications graduate, returns to the booth where his journey began at Titan Athletics. As a former live commentator for Titan Basketball and sports director for Westminster television, John’s career has been shaped by his deep connection to sports. A former Titan football player and starting center on the 1994 National Championship team, John has since built an impressive career as a sportscaster, covering major events such as the Super Bowl and World Series. His experienced perspective will no doubt enrich the broadcast.

Saturday, October 5, 2024: Titan Football vs W & J – 1:00 p.m.

Ben Kelly and Augustus Necastro, ’20

Augustus Necastro, class of 2020, will bring his first-hand experience as a former Titans starting quarterback to the microphone. Augustus led the Titans to two ECAC Bowl appearances and an unforgettable upset win over W&J in 2018. Today, a Doctor of Chiropractic with a Masters in Applied Clinical Nutrition, Augustus returns to where it all began, this time from the announcer’s booth, ready to provide unique insight and relive the game-changing moments from his time as a player.

Saturday, October 19, 2024: Titan Football vs Saint Vincent (home game) – 1:00 p.m.

Ben Kelly and Jason Mackey, ’06

Jason Mackey, a 2006 graduate and current columnist for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, will bring his expertise in sports journalism to the Homecoming game broadcast. A former Titan baseball player, Jason has covered the Penguins and Pirates in his career and is a regular on KDKA-TV and 93.7 FM The Fan. Jason’s journalistic accuracy and passion for sports will add depth to the Homecoming game and make it a remarkable broadcast.

Saturday, October 26, 2024: Titan Football vs. Case Western Reserve – 7:00 p.m.

Ben Kelly and Joe Salmen, ’18

Joe Salmen, class of 2018, returns to Westminster where he excelled in football and baseball. A two-time all-conference player and recently coached tight ends and running backs under Coach Benzel, Joe’s connection to the current team is still strong. As a wealth advisor, Joe’s diverse experiences will provide listeners with a unique perspective on the game and the student-athlete experience.

Saturday, 16 November 2024: Titan Football vs. Grove City (Senior Day) – 1:00 p.m.

Ben Kelly and Kellen Gursky, ’17

Kellen Gursky, a 2017 broadcast and digital communications graduate, is no stranger to the announce booth. While at Westminster, Kellen served as a commentator for Titan football and men’s and women’s basketball. After graduating, he worked for iHeart Radio, including Steelers Nation Radio. His voice will bring familiarity and expertise when the Titans take on Grove City on Senior Day.

Also Tiffany Jackson-Greene’16, will be in the television booth alongside Mark Slezak, ’87, for Westminster volleyball coverage on October 30 and November 6. Tiffany’s background in broadcast and media production and her experience as a former Titan volleyball player make her the perfect fit to bring these games to life for viewers.

This season, Titan Radio listeners are in for a treat: These successful alumni, along with student speaker Ben Weber, deliver in-depth analysis, exciting stories, and a connection to Titan’s history that only true insiders can make.
