A book cover features the title text dripping down the cover against a burgundy background.

Mag grows up in a conservative Christian home where she is encouraged to maintain her purity at all costs. Although she tries to reject the hypersexual youth culture of her small town, she falls in love with a girl named Marlous during a program designed to introduce young people to evangelical missionary work.

Drowning in shame and regret, Mag breaks away from the church and plunges into the world of sex work to leave her repressive past behind and change the course of her life. However, her foray into sex work is marked by various pitfalls, including violent club managers, dangerous customers, drug abuse, and corrupt police officers. She chases an elusive, ever-changing concept of financial security that develops into a problematic conflation of money and self-esteem.

Ultimately, Mag must come to terms with herself, her sexuality and her faith, and imagine a world where these things exist in symbiosis. During her journey, she discusses breaking boundaries, the redemptive power of friendship, and the ecosystems of so-called “depraved” and “upscale” places. (By Invisible Publishing)
