Probably knowing that the Las Vegas Aces would be neck and neck with the Chicago Sky on Sunday afternoon, the favorite for WNBA MVP, A’ja Wilson, was undoubtedly brought in.

With impressive freshmen Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese on Chicago’s front line, Wilson kept coming through, scoring 20 points, 18 rebounds and the game-winning shot in a thrilling 77-75 Las Vegas victory.

During the halftime break, however, Wilson made it particularly clear that she was serious.

From her teammates to the Sky players to the referees and coaches, Wilson seemed to rebuke everyone in a tense but measured exchange. Wilson even noted that she didn’t like being stared down, which could have been a reference to Cardoso’s approach (five blocks) in the penalty area:

Phew, boy.

Look, not everyone can speak so openly in public. You have to earn the right to criticize people, to call them out, and not let everyone get worked up about your opinion. As the best player in the WNBA, Wilson certainly has that right, and she and the Aces responded perfectly.
