While we’re used to seeing new colorways of Mike’s signature shoes detailed, that’s not the case with the “Diffused Blue.” Rather than a specific reference to His Airness’ illustrious career, this is simply a pair of easy-to-wear warm-weather shoes.

The simplistic design certainly helps in this case, using the sky blue hue on the patent leather mudguard, select branding and sockliner. Almost every other part of this shoe is kept in pure white, including a clear, translucent sole underfoot. Despite the emphasis on pristine, clean aesthetics, there are some connections to previous editions of his 11th signature.

For years, navy blue was an untouched hue in the Air Jordan 11 canon, but the Air Jordan 11 “Win Like ’82” introduced the steely hue, taking inspiration from both Jordan’s UNC championship team and the Georgetown Hoyas they defeated in the finals. Just two years later, it found its way to its low-cut sibling with the Jordan 11 “Navy Snakeskin.” This “Diffused Blue” pair fills a gap somewhere in between, bringing much of the design of the Win Like ’82 release to the shorter edition and adopting a low-to-high formula that will inspire the Bred Jordan 11 Low in 2025.
