White has competed in many high-profile golf tournaments in South Dakota and across the country in his 30-plus year golf career. From the SDGA Championships to the Royal Canadian Senior Amateur’s to the Iowa Father-Daughter State Championship, White has experienced a lot.

On Monday, White returned to The Golf Club at Red Rock less than 24 hours after winning his last sanctioned event, and we just wanted to know what he will miss most.

“Competition events,” laughed White. “I’m competitive by nature. I love tournament golf and have played many tournaments all over the place. I would like to add this: I got some great advice early on.”

“I was playing a nine-hole tournament in a little place in Norfolk, Nebraska, and I think I thought I was better than I was. And I was playing with these two guys who were older, probably in their 40s, and we were hanging out waiting for the back nine holes, and one of them came up to me and said, ‘Marv, why don’t you learn to enjoy your game so we can enjoy ours.'”

From that point on, it’s safe to say that Marv enjoyed his game and now has a lot to show for it.

White told KOTA Territory News that he will continue to play for fun with family and friends. He says he wants to find another hobby and maybe start oil painting again.
