The 2024 ADCC World Championship is approaching and grappling fans can feel it.

The ADCC World Championship will take place on August 17th and 18th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The ADCC Worlds has been around since 1998 and there is a long history associated with this event.

In 1999, for the first time, two different Americans won in two different weight classes and also for the first time in the -99,000 class.

This competition also marked the first time Royler Gracie won in his division.

How do ADCC Worlds work?

There are three ways to compete in the ADCC World Championships: Returning champions and podium finishers from previous World Championships automatically qualify to return, you can either win one of the continental qualifiers (held in various locations around the world) or you can receive an invitation.

The men’s divisions of the ADCC World Championships include 16 competitors, including eight qualified athletes, seven invitationals, and the return of the defending ADCC champion. The women’s divisions include eight competitors, including four qualified athletes, the defending champion, and three invitationals.

The ADCC World Championships also use a knockout system from the round of 16 onwards, and the motto here is: win and advance.
