BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office reported the third inmate death since July 30 Wednesday afternoon.

Officials said the 30-year-old inmate, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead in a cell at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center around 1:20 p.m.

The prisoner’s name will be disclosed until next of kin are notified, the district said.

According to the Sheriff’s Office’s preliminary investigation, findings indicate a possible suicide, but the BCSO’s Internal Affairs and Public Integrity divisions are conducting separate investigations into this death.

Pursuant to the Sandra Bland Act, Bexar County Precinct 2 is investigating the inmate’s death. The Texas Commission on Jail Standards has also been notified of the inmate’s death, the county said.

The death of the 30-year-old inmate is also the second in the prison within two days. The sheriff’s office announced on Tuesday that a 62-year-old had died in the prison.

The 62-year-old’s death has been provisionally ruled a homicide. BCSO said the Texas Rangers have also taken over the investigation into the 62-year-old’s death.

Late last month, on July 30, the sheriff’s office said a 46-year-old man was found unconscious against a cell door. Attempts were made to rescue the inmate, who was later identified as Michael Rosas.

According to BCSO, Rosas’ death was pronounced at 1:04 p.m. Authorities said a medical incident was Rosas’ cause of death.
