Lightweight contender Abdullah Mason (15-0, 13 KOs) said he believes he can fight for a world title in 2025 after knocking out Mike Ohan Jr. (19-3, 9 KOs) in the second round at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada on Saturday night.

Tonight, Mason stole the show again, knocking Ohan down twice in the preliminary round and then knocking him out in the second round. The fight was stopped after Mason knocked Ohan down with a right hook in the second round. The referee’s stoppage time was 40:40.

Mason knocked Ohan down in the first round with a left uppercut that knocked him down. In the second round, Marson finished the job with a right hook that knocked him down a second time and caused the stoppage.

Mason will turn 21 in 2025 and believes he is ready to fight for a world title in the 135 kg division. He is not saying which of the champions he will target for that title shot. Fans would like to see Mason challenge one of these three: Gervonta Davis, Shakur Stevenson or Vasily Lomachenko.

“2025 will be a big year for us”

“2025 will be a big year for us. I look forward to returning to Cleveland,” said Abdullah Mason.

“I’m going to keep doing my job the way I always have, no matter what the competition is,” Mason said when asked how he will ensure he gets a chance at the world title in 2025. “I have to make sure I keep taking them out of there the same way.”

“When you do your job, it speaks for itself,” said Abdullah Mason, adding that he doesn’t need to trumpet his accomplishments like some fighters do. “I don’t have to do anything else, call names, go back and forth. As long as I’m getting the world done, it will speak for itself.”

Mark Kriegel: “You know people are after you now.”

“Absolutely,” Mason said. “When the time comes, I’ll be ready. You have to have a purpose behind every action and you have to make sure it’s a strong purpose, otherwise the actions will turn out the way you want them to.”
