Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania has released its reading list for summer 2024, which includes a book titled “The Lesbiana’s Guide to Catholic School.”

The reading list was published on the website of the TriCollege Libraries, a joint initiative of the colleges of Bryn Mawr, Haverford and Swarthmore.

The list includes several books that deal with LGBT issues.

One title, a novel called “Patricia Wants to Cuddle,” is marketed as “perfect for queer reality TV fans who enjoy the absurd or grotesque” and described as “weird and wacky.”

The book description states that it is “a love story: between ill-fated lesbians who rise above their intolerant city, a deeply ambivalent woman and her burgeoning self-realization, and a group of islanders who form a community despite all adversities.”

Another book on the list, The Lesbiana’s Guide to Catholic School, is a novel that explores the “difficult aspects of being gay and of color in a racist and homophobic environment.”

The story follows a Mexican-American student who identifies as queer and her daily life at an elite Catholic school, including her struggle to pass as straight and the question, “WWSGD: What would a straight girl do?”

Several other colleges and universities have also published summer reading lists.

Harvard University’s summer reading list includes books that address or promote transgenderism, critical race theory, and intersectionality.

Vassar College’s Students for Justice in Palestine chapter circulated a list of books to its followers, including works by mass murderer and communist dictator Vladimir Lenin and the terrorist group Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
