LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – Lincoln has seen very little rain so far this month, but starting Sunday the weather will become unsettled and continue throughout the week, with cooler air sticking around for a few more days.
And on Saturday it was cool with temperatures between 15 and 21 degrees. Tonight the lows will fall to 13 to 15 degrees and here in the capital to just under 15 degrees.
Although the threat of storms in the east will continue through Sunday, there is a slight risk of isolated severe storms in the west Saturday night. Quarter-sized hailstones and wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible late in the evening and possibly overnight.
There is a chance of isolated severe storms on Sunday from the afternoon hours, lasting into the evening. Gusty winds and heavy hail remain the main concerns with thunderstorms. Although there may be isolated rain in Lincoln in the afternoon, more activity is expected Sunday evening and overnight.
Persistent cloud cover and the chance of rain will keep highs in central and eastern Nebraska between 77 and 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures between 77 and 84 degrees Fahrenheit are possible in the west.
At the beginning of the working week, temperatures continue to rise slowly and are generally above 27 degrees.
As mentioned above, rain chances will remain low to moderate through Friday, with the best chance of rain occurring Tuesday afternoon into Thursday morning. In addition, average highs are expected to return on Wednesday and continue through next weekend.
