Chenango County man arrested for multiple burglaries

CHENANGO COUNTY (WBNG) — The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a Chenango County man wanted for multiple burglaries.

The original report came from the town of Butternuts, where an investigation revealed that 22-year-old Nicholas C. Harrington of Preston, NY, broke into a barn and stole an ATV and several gas cans.

He was seen loading the ATV into the back of a white Dodge pickup truck, which investigators knew because Harrington had used the same pickup for similar crimes in Chenango County, according to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office.

A search warrant was executed on Harrington’s home in Morris Village, and officers recovered previously stolen items as well as the white Dodge pickup truck that had been stolen in another county.

Harrington was arraigned in a centralized arraignment and subsequently transported to the Otsego County Correctional Facility, where the Otsego County District Attorney’s Office recommended bail of $10,000.

In the town of Butternuts he was charged with:

  • Third degree burglary

  • Criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree

In the city of Morris he was charged with:
