Paris 2024 Olympics live updates: Day 15 at the latest with the last athletics finals after Lydia Ko wins gold in golf

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has ruled on a controversy surrounding the placings in the women’s floor exercise final at the Olympic Games, downgrading the American gymnast’s final score. Jordanian chilis to 13.666, threatening the bronze medal she felt she deserved.

The court on Saturday overturned a request from Chiles’ coach that had increased her score to 13.766, moving her from fifth place to a bronze medal for third place. The appeal, the court said, came too late under competition rules. Requests must be made within one minute of an athlete’s score being announced, and the court said Chiles’ coach submitted her request four seconds after the minute mark.

The ruling was issued in response to an appeal by the Romanian Gymnastics Federation and the gymnasts Ana Maria Barbosu And Sabrina Maneca-Voineawith the court declaring that Chiles’ original score “shall be restored”.

The court said that in light of the ruling, the International Gymnastics Federation, the governing body of the sport, should decide how the medals should be re-awarded.
