IMMAF Youth World Championships – Summary of the fourth day

On the penultimate day of the Youth World Championship, our fighters put on an amazing show.

The Youth Category A athletes presented themselves in style on the battlefield, while teams from all over the world demonstrated their talent.

We won the first medals of the competition for Spain, South Africa and Finland and enjoyed our header battle at the end of the tournament in dramatic fashion.

The evening’s final began with the boys’ strawweight division, where Samandar Abudurakhmonov of Uzbekistan won gold by unanimous decision after two rounds over Farhodi Davlatali of Tajikistan. Davlatali’s teammate Ismoil Zainiddinov picked up a consolation bronze medal, as did Alexander Delchev of Bulgaria, who won his country’s third medal of the championships.

Ukraine’s Nikita Muratov lost the bantamweight gold medal to Nurlan Noruzov of Kazakhstan by unanimous decision, meaning Kazakhstan finished third in the day’s medal table. Mirko Mlyncek took a well-deserved bronze medal for Team Slovakia alongside Jafarsadig Mirzayev of Azerbaijan.

Muratov was avenged by his lightweight teammate Artem Savranskyi, who won the only gold medal of the day for Ukraine in a peculiar way against Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Zhizhin. The judges’ vote originally ended in a tie, but the Ukrainian was declared the winner due to a single foul by Zhizhin.

In less dramatic fashion, Deividas Martinkus and Ilyosbek Bekturdiyev won bronze for Ireland and Uzbekistan respectively.

A unanimous decision victory by Abdulaziz Abdusattorov over Tajik fighter Sinoi Abuali secured Uzbekistan the fourth day as the only team with two gold medals at the top of the medal standings. Mukhamed Khanlaev picked up another bronze medal for Uzbekistan alongside Milfa Kuenda Nicolau of Angola.

And at the end of the penultimate day of the Youth World Championships, Mercedes Garcia Rodriguez won the first gold medal of the competition for Spain after defeating Uzbekistan’s Xurshidaxon Rozikova in the lightweight final.

In a first-place division, Astrid Pretorius and Isla Fono won the first medals of the tournament for their countries after finishing jointly in third place.

We are entering the last day of the Youth World Championship and everything is still open.
