Upcoming events this month in Gaston County

This August, officials and businesses throughout Gaston County are hosting events.

Here is a list of upcoming events for different age groups:

Gastonia

  • An end-of-summer ice cream gathering will be held on August 10th from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the Gastonia Church of Christ, 1919 New Hope Road.
  • The Hearthfire Pagan Homecoming Festival begins August 10th at 10am at the Rotary Pavilion 107 S. South St.
  • The Gastonia Food and Brews Street Festival will take place on Main Street on August 17th from 11am to 7pm. The event will include booths, food trucks, a kids’ zone and live music.
  • Gamers Alley is hosting a toy show on August 18th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., 481 Gaston Mall Drive. The event will include rare and collectible games and toys, as well as an appearance by Alyson Kiperman Power Rangers Wild Force Yellow Ranger.

Lowell

  • The City of Lowell will host a luau for active adults ages 55 and older on August 22 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Lowell, 207 E. First St. The event will include games, prizes, music and food. Participation is $5 for Lowell residents and $8 for non-residents. Registration is required at 704-315-8165.

Cramerton

  • Confluence South Fork is hosting trivia night on August 15, 22 and 29 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. 117 Center St.

Bessemer City

  • Builders and Creators in Bessemer City will host a glow party for teens on Aug. 12 from 3:30 to 5 p.m., 207 N. 12th St. The event will include dancing, music and games for children in grades 6-12. Participants are encouraged to wear neon clothing.
