There are many top-class headliners throughout the region, but the junior class is also rich in talent and ability.
Here’s a look at the top 12 juniors on both sides of the ball entering the 2024 football season.

12. Gator Nichols, Maysville
The former golf star has transitioned to football, where he should be a weapon for the Panthers. He has shown he can play at the college level in basketball, and his skills and speed will be an asset to a young Maysville team.
11. David Evans, Zanesville
Evans will be one of the playmakers for the young Blue Devils. He had some success late last season and shined during the preseason for new coach TJ Carper.
10. Tavin Bennett, West Muskingum
The wide receiver and defensive back will get his chance with the Tornadoes, who will have to replace the state’s top performer, Rashid SeSay. Bennett had a few opportunities last year and his skill set should allow him to contribute in a variety of ways this season.

9. Jace Thompson, Crooksville
The 6-foot-2, 230-pound lineman returns after missing last season with an injury. Thompson is expected to help improve the offensive line while adding offensive muscle to a defense in need of playmakers.
8. Witten Schaad, Morgan
After several departures, Schaad will be an anchor on both lines for the Raiders. They have new faces on both sides, but his play on offense will be crucial in helping Morgan maintain his recent success.
7. Jack Lincicome, Philo
Lincicome takes over the quarterback role for the Electrics, while Talon Preston moves to running back. The left-hander has some mobility and has plenty of experienced options that will help him settle in as a starter.
6. Hayden Bankes, Morgan
The Raiders need production and Bankes is one of those options after the departures of Logan Niceswanger and Kole Searl. He has the ability to play anywhere on the field and should become one of Morgan’s biggest offensive forces.
5. Aidan Mahon, Philo
The Electrics will look to utilize their speed, and Mahon definitely provides it on offense. His athleticism should also help a secondary full of playmakers. His overall skill is why Philo will look to improve from last season.
4. Logan Ridenbaugh, Ridgewood
Strength in the trenches is a Generals tradition, and Ridenbaugh is the newest addition to that group. His ability to penetrate the backfield should bolster a defense that is strong at every level.
3. Alex Altier, John Glenn
Coming off a stellar season, Altier will look to build on that momentum. He showed last season he can get into the backfield, and his ability to disrupt offenses will help the Muskie defense down the stretch.
2. Brody Zemba, Rosecrans
With a new quarterback, Zemba will be the focal point of the Bishops’ offense. The offensive line will have several new faces, but his speed and agility should help him bring the unit together.
1. Harrison Ratliff, New Lexington
The Panthers are talented and Ratliff is one of the team’s best defensive playmakers. He was the team’s best tackler last season and his ability to find the ball should help the defense hold its own.
