Florida honors Jimmy Buffett with license plate and highway
Proposals in the Florida House of Representatives and Senate would introduce a Margaritaville license plate and name a state highway after the late singer Jimmy Buffett.
Does anyone have a worn out license plate on their vehicle? State Rep. Jeff Olsommer (R-Pike/Wayne) has announced an opportunity to fill out an application for a free replacement in Hamlin on Saturday, August 10.
The event will take place between 9 and 11 a.m. at EverGreen Elementary School, 739 Easton Turnpike (Route 191).
“If you have a license plate that has the paint peeling off and it’s damaged – this happens a lot – come on in. We’ll take care of it and expedite the process so you can get a new plate,” he told Wayne County commissioners at their Aug. 1 meeting.
He said that replacing the license plate would be free unless you wanted to get a special license plate.
“You can stay in your car, just drive through and I and my staff will get you out of there in a few minutes,” Olsommer said.
A Pennsylvania Department of Transportation replacement form must be completed. A valid driver’s license and current Pennsylvania vehicle registration certificate must be presented. The Pennsylvania State Police will inspect worn license plates.
