A clip shared on social media shows Drake talking to his mother about what his song “Too Good” is about.
The singer-songwriter released the song, which he collaborated on with Rihanna, in 2016 and since then the music has been played on the radio, hummed by many and sung by many lips.
But do you know what this song is actually about – or more precisely, who is it about?
“Too Good” – the fourth single from Drake’s fourth studio album Views – was a commercial success, reaching number 14 on the US Billboard Top 100 and entering the top 10 in the UK and Canada.
The song was co-written by Drake and Rihanna, as well as Andrew Hershey, Andre Sutherland and Atom Martin. And it was produced by Nineteen85, Maneesh Bidaye and Dwayne Chin-Quee.
In the tune, Drake sings about not knowing how to talk to someone or ask them if everything is okay.
He continues: “Yeah, and last night I guess I lost my patience/ Last night I was as high as your expectations/ Last night I realized something/ And I hope you can take it/ I hope you can take it.”
And then the singer concludes that he is “too good” to the person he is talking about, and not just “too good” but “way too good”. He says they “take (his) love for granted” and he “can’t understand” that.
But who is this mysterious person he is talking about?

Well, a video circulating on social media shows Drake in the studio talking to his mother Sandi Graham – who is not on camera.
The two talk about his upcoming releases, and his mother asks him if he’s “tough on it” with his relationships. Drake notes that he “goes hard on a couple of tracks,” but “Too Good” is “more about (him) and Serena.”
And while there are countless people in the world named Williams, there have been numerous reports and rumors in the years surrounding the song’s release about whether or not the two were a couple. However, a spokesperson for Williams denied the claims at the time, telling PEOPLE in October 2015 that the pair were “simply longtime friends.”

Drake continued to tell his mother, “Well, it’s funny because when I write songs about women, I also write songs for them. So I know what kind of song to write. If I’m talking about them, at least I’m doing them justice by writing them a song that they like.
“I know Serena very well and I know she will hear it loud and clear but won’t hate me for it because it’s lighthearted.”
Graham then asks, “And she’s seeing someone else?”
Drake replies, “I don’t know, Mom.”
However, time has passed and the couple has moved on. Williams is happily married to Alexis Ohanian and has children with her.
