I love Anna Kendrick! Like many others, I discovered her for the first time in Pitch perfect Movies that fed my a cappella-loving soul. This song? Iconic!

Man, she sings like an angel.

I’ve been a fan of Kendrick since college, and the fact that she’s from Portland, Maine makes her even more endearing. It’s fun to see a local girl achieve such big things in Hollywood, but you can’t ever forget where she came from.

I consume all the content she puts out into the universe, including her enchanting book entitled The combative little nobody. Did I drive to Portland to have my copy signed by Anna at Books-a-Million on the busiest day of 2016? You bet! #IT’S WORTH IT

We practically have a parade in Monument Square whenever Anna comes home or mentions Portland in an interview.

It happened when she was a guest on the Hot Ones podcast with Sean Evans. I wasn’t familiar with the show, but the plot involves the host interviewing well-known celebrities while they eat unbearably spicy chicken wings and asking them really obscure or tough questions.

As you can see in this clip, Sean asks her a question about the Lyric Theater in South Portland. The spice is really clouding her memory at this point and she is unable to answer the question:

I recently re-watched A simple favor, in which Anna Kendrick plays the lead role along with Blake Lively. At the time of writing, the film is streaming on Amazon and I highly recommend it.

If you haven’t seen the movie, it’s about the unlikely camaraderie between Blake’s character Emily and Anna’s character Stephanie. Their young children go to school together and the mothers drink martinis while their kids have play dates. Then one day Emily disappears (dun dun dun!) and I won’t tell you the rest.

Apparently I’m not the only one who was excited about this movie because it grossed $100 million at the box office.

And some good news for A simple favor Fans: A Simple Favor 2 is in the works. It is also classified as a “glamorous mystery”, just like the first one. According to The Hollywood Reporter:

“The new chapter follows Kendrick’s Stephanie and Lively’s Emily as they travel to the Isle of Capri for Emily’s lavish wedding. But of course, murder and betrayal are on the agenda.”

There is no exact release date yet, but according to IMDB, the film will be released directly on Prime Video in 2025.
