4-H Poultry Project Winners Crowned at County Fair | News, Sports, Jobs

As a show, the youths presented their bird to APA judge Richard Hare of Springville and answered a series of questions, including about the bird’s body parts, specific characteristics of the breed, poultry breeding and poultry trivia.

This year there were five Cloverbud showmen between the ages of 5 and 8: Kamden Barron of Jamestown, Colton Thompson of Fredonia, Wyatt Winton of Sinclairville, Brayden Tarnowski of Dewittville and Maverick Gernatt of Jamestown.

In the Novice division, or first-year showmen, 14-year-old Kierdan Nickerson of Clymer was crowned champion, and 8-year-old Onna Warner of Bemus Point secured the reserve spot. In the Junior division, or experienced showmen ages 9 to 13, 13-year-old Emma Ribaudo of Falconer was crowned champion, while 9-year-old Harrison LeBarron of Silver Creek secured the reserve spot.

In the senior division, ages 14-18, 14-year-old Caitlyn Kriner of Findley Lake won, while 15-year-old Everett LeBarron of Silver Creek was named Reserve Senior Champion. Overall, Caitlyn Kriner was named Grand Champion Showman with the highest score of the day. Kierdan Nickerson earned the second highest score to earn Reserve Champion Showman honors.

In the breed show, Elizabeth Weaver’s Old English Game Bantam, “Kara”won Best in Show. Reserve Best in Show went to Caitlyn Kriner’s Welch Harlequin Duck, “Sarah.”

– Waterfowl Class: Caitlyn Kriner’s Welch Harlequin Duck

– Wild Bantam: Elizabeth Weaver’s OEGB hen

– Feather-leg Bantam: Onna Warner’s Silkie

– Bantam with clean legs: Sebright hen by Anthony Valvo.
