Ryan Garcia is still basking in the glory of Haney’s victory

Ryan Garcia is still basking in the glory of Haney’s victory

Ryan Garcia is still very much aware of his destruction of Devin Haney last April in New York. On Wednesday, he wrote on social media that a fan screamed as he knocked Haney to the ground. You can’t blame Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) for reminding fans of his victory. The left hook that Ryan used to knock Haney to the ground in the seventh round was a beautiful punch.

Haney’s attempts to rewrite history miss their target

Devin (31-0, 15 KOs) has been posting a lot lately and seems to be trying to cover up what happened to him in the fight against Garcia. He seems like he is still reeling from the bad experience. If Haney is trying to convince fans that he only lost because of Ryan’s positive test for Ostarine, that won’t work.

Haney needs to face Ryan again and prove in the rematch that he is better by staying on his feet and winning. Anything else won’t work. He won’t restore his popularity by reminding fans of Ryan’s positive test.

Haney’s plans to return to the 140-pound division to challenge Liam Paro for his IBF title in Australia on December 7 may prove to be a mistake.

This is not a good idea because if Haney loses, and he probably will, a rematch with Ryan could become moot. The money for the Haney vs. Garcia rematch would be far less if Devin gets knocked out by Liam Paro (25-0, 15 KOs) in December. Haney would be useless to Ryan if Paro destroys him. The rematch would be worthless after that.

The inevitability of a rematch

Unless Haney’s offer to fight Paro is absurd, he shouldn’t be fighting him. Please wait until after the rematch with Ryan before challenging Paro for his belt. Parp will likely still be IBF champion. If Haney beats Ryan in the first half of 2025, he can face Paro in his next fight, which would lead to insane PPV numbers in Australia.
