Exhibitor list 2024 – e-flux Agenda

67 contemporary art galleries, 15 art institutions and more than 300 artists from 14 countries have been invited to participate in the international contemporary art fair ArtVilnius’24. The 15th anniversary edition will take place from 4 to 6 October at the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre Litexpo in Vilnius. The focus of ArtVilnius’24 is Northern Europe.

Gallery program
Among the participating galleries, visitors to ArtVilnius’24 will see some well-known galleries, such as Māksla XO, Pilot and Alma (Latvia), Tutar Gallery (Estonia), Nivet Carzon (France), TSEKH (Ukraine/Lithuania), galleri NB (Denmark) and from Lithuania Artifex, Baroti, Meno niša gallery, The Rooster Gallery, Terra Recognita and The Room.

No less than 20 art galleries will participate for the first time. Newcomers to ArtVilnius’24 include Asni, ISSP Gallery and Cut Art Gallery from Latvia, Davis Gallery and Gallery Hjorth from Denmark, Eristavi Gallery and Louise Gallery from Belgium, Italy’s 89 Cento Art Gallery, Van Rij Gallery from Poland and wildpalms from Germany. Kita (Finland), Sami Center for Contemporary Art (Norway), Simson Holding (Estonia/Sweden) and others will also participate for the first time.

Project zone
For the third year in a row, the ArtVilnius project zone has been handed over to Valentinas Klimašauskas, a renowned curator of contemporary art who, among other things, co-curates the Lithuanian National Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale (2024). The three-day program—Agency: Of Mice, Scene & Machines– presents a selection of contemporary artists, galleries and institutions from Northern Europe.

Participants in the Project Zone this year include Edith Karlson and Katja Novitskova (Temnikova & Kasela Gallery, Tallinn), both of whom represented the Estonian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2024 and 2017. Riga’s Art Gallery 427 presents artists Kaspars Groševs, Ieva Kraule-Kūna and Viktor Timofeev, while Simian Art from Copenhagen brings projects by artists Lukas Danys and Jan S. Hansen.

On the moving image stage, Index: The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation presents a video by Nina Sarnelle, while Copenhagen’s Kunsthal Charlottenborg presents the artist Simon Dybbroe Møller. Oslo’s MELK Gallery shows a video project by Norway-based Ukrainian artist Lesia Vasylchenko, and Helsinki’s Kunsthal Kohta presents a performance by Anu Pennanen.

The Lithuanian contemporary art scene will be represented in the Project Zone by the recently opened Stasys Museum in Panevėžys, as well as by individual projects by Jonas Aničas, Gabija Grušaitė, Rytis Urbanskas and Igoris Piekuras (presented by the MTR Art Foundation).

Exhibition The way
The wayan exhibition of sculptural installations and performances, presents 17 works by international artists. The curator of the exhibition is the director of the Estonian Centre for Contemporary Art, curator and long-time commissioner of the Estonian National Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, Maria Arusoo.

Participants from Lithuania include Danas Aleksa, Eglė Pilkauskaitė, Indrė Liškauskaitė, Laima Kulbytė, Liudvikas Kesminas, Matas Janušonis, Monika Žaltauskaitė Grašienė Žaltė, Saulė Noreikaitė, Severija Inčirauskaitė-Kriaunevič ienė, Žygimantas Bėrontas, Žilvinas Baranauskas, Kęstutis Svirnelis. Estonia will be represented by Edith Karlson, Anni Puolakka, Keithy Kuuspu and Terje Ojaver, and Zody Burke will travel from Latvia.

Additional program
The creative program of ArtVilnius’24 will be complemented by discussions, lectures, presentations of art publications, an educational program and excursions with art critics. As every year, a jury will select the best fair participants in the following nominations: Best 7 galleries; Best young artist under 35 (award of the COBALT law firm, patrons of the fair); Best artist (sponsored by Crème de la Crème); Best sculpture/installation; Audience award for the best gallery and Audience award for the best artist.

Venue
Located just 15 minutes from the city centre, the Lithuanian Exhibition and Convention Centre Litexpo, with its 12,000 square metres of indoor and outdoor space, is Lithuania’s most important exhibition venue. Every year the fair attracts 18,000 to 23,000 visitors of all ages.

The ArtVilnius’24 art fair is organized by the Lithuanian Association of Art Galleries. The director of the fair is Diana Stomienė and the artistic director is Sonata Baliuckaitė.

ArtVilnius’24 is financed by the Lithuanian Cultural Council. The patronage is provided by the Vilnius City Council. The art fair’s patron is the Cobalt law firm. The main partner is the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre Litexpo.
