The Red Sox are at the top of the list of places to go for the two-time Cy Young winner

The Boston Red Sox were named as two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell’s top travel destination, according to Bleacher Report. The Sox were sixth on the list of ten possible destinations.

Snell is a monster and is having another good year. This year with the San Francisco Giants, Snell has a 3.76 ERA, a 2-3 win-loss record, and 106 strikeouts. To be fair to Snell, his team is one of the mediocre teams in MLB and he has struggled with several injuries this season that have limited his starts and ability. The year before, when Snell won his second Cy Young, he had a 2.25 ERA, a 14-9 win-loss record, and 234 strikeouts.

Snell has an opt-out clause for the end of this season, so he can leave if he wants. He would demand a lot of money, but based on his performance and availability this season, he may not get as much as he’s really worth, which is good for the Sox.

The Sox’s pitching has been really abysmal this year, and aside from three or four guys, they don’t have any real talent. Snell was a top target for the Sox last year, but they didn’t want to pay him, and now that he might be worth less, the Sox might actually target him in the offseason.

If the Sox get him, they need to sign another star starter like Max Fried or Jack Flaherty and then sign or trade a number of really good relievers and they could be a playoff contender. With their current offense and an improvement in pitching, they could be a fearsome force.
