Behind franchise passer Brock Purdy, the San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback roster includes Joshua Dobbs and Brandon Allen. On Tuesday, the 49ers released the last member of the quarterback team, rookie Tanner Mordecai.
However, after a solid preseason, Mordecai is one of the first players the 49ers are bringing back to Santa Clara to build their practice squad. According to Matt Barrows of The AthleticThe 49ers plan to add Mordecai to the practice squad.

In the last preseason game against the Raiders, Mordecai completed 2 of 4 passes for 59 yards. In his other preseason appearance against the Saints, Mordecai completed 7 of 10 passes for 36 yards in the 49ers’ only preseason win.
Mordecai played six seasons of college football, three at Oklahoma and two at SMU. Mordecai played his final season of college football in the Big 10 at Wisconsin. Last season, Mordecai threw for 2,066 yards and nine touchdowns in 10 games with the Badgers.
