How to share Xbox games on PC
Sharing games on PC is a relatively simple process.
Step 1. You’ve probably already done this, but sign in to the Microsoft Store on your PC with the account that subscribes to Xbox Game Pass.
Step 2. Now go to the Xbox app and sign in with the account you want to link.
Step 3. Once you’re signed in, go to Settings > Accounts. Now click Change my Microsoft Store account and then click Use account with Game Pass subscription.
How to share Xbox games on Xbox
Sharing on Xbox requires a few more steps than it should.
Step 1. Once you’re signed in to your Xbox, click the Xbox button and go to “Add New” on the left side of the screen.
Step 2. Sign in to the account you want to share with and set it up if you haven’t already.
Step 3. With that account, go to Settings > Personalization > My Home Xbox. Now click Make this my home Xbox.
Yes, the secondary account technically needs to be the primary account of the console owner and vice versa for the other console you want to connect to.
The only limitation to this is that you must be connected to the internet when playing games owned by your account, otherwise Xbox will block you until it can confirm that you are the owner.
Additionally, the Home Xbox can only be changed five times a year. That’s ridiculous, but that’s the way it is, so don’t change if you don’t have to.
Can we play the same game at the same time?
Yes, but you cannot play the same game with the same account.
As long as you play on separate accounts from the accounts you are normally assigned to, you should have no problem playing the same game.
