A good omen is gearing up for its third and final season, and anticipation is high as Season 2 ends on a cliffhanger. Michael Sheen’s teaser gives me hope for the future of Crowley and Aziraphale… but it’s also troubling. Amazon Prime Video has built up its own catalog of TV shows, some more popular than others, and one of my favorites is A good omen. Based on the 1990 novel of the same name by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. A good omen premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2019 with great success.
Season 1 of A good omen is based on the novel and follows the angel Aziraphale (Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant) as they try to stop the Antichrist from triggering the apocalypse. Four years later A good omen returned with its second season and an original story in which Aziraphale and Crowley teamed up again to find out what happened to Archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm), whose memory was erased. A good omen Season 2 ended on a heartbreaking cliffhanger, and a recent sneak peek at Season 3 gives me hope for a happy ending, but also worries me.

After a few challenges, Aziraphale and Crowley found out what had happened to Archangel Gabriel and learned that he and Beelzebub (Shelley Conn) from Hell had fallen in love. Gabriel and Beelzebub were sent to Alpha Centauri so they could continue their lives together without any problems, but that left one place in Heaven and one in Hell. At the end of A good omen In season 2, Metatron (Derek Jacobi) appeared in Aziraphale’s bookstore and offered him the role of the Supreme Archangel of Heaven. This position allowed him to take Crowley and make him an angel again, but Crowley wanted something else.

Crowley struggled to confess his feelings for Aziraphale to the confused angel, and eventually kissed him and told him he wanted to stay with him on Earth. However, Aziraphale simply told him he forgave him and returned to Heaven with Metatron, while Crowley simply drove away. The future of Aziraphale and Crowley, both together and apart, is a mystery, but a recent hint from Michael Sheen gives me hope that A good omen will bring them back together in the final season.
The fact that Sheen and Co. are aware of the audience’s reaction and passion for the show gives me hope that they know what viewers want.
In conversation with TV InsiderSheen shared his excitement about working with Tennant again and returning to A good omen. Sheen mentioned that the fandom is one of the “extraordinary” things about being part of Good omen, and that it was also extraordinary to see her reaction to the end of season two. Sheen added that he was sure that Season 3 would be a satisfying experience for everyoneThe fact that Sheen and co. are aware of the audience reaction and passion for the show gives me hope that they know what viewers want and that the “satisfying experience” will lead to a well-deserved happy ending for Crowley and Aziraphale.

While story details for A good omen Season 3 is still a secret, David Tennant has hinted at more romance in the upcoming final season, and for that I am deeply grateful. Speaking to Michelle Visage on the red carpet of the BAFTA TV Awards in May 2024 (via CBR), Tennant hinted at further kisses between Aziraphale and Crowley in A good omen Season 3 and more romance. In the same conversation, Tennant said that filming for season 3 will begin in January, so we’ll just have to wait for more details to emerge.
Before they can get back together and reconcile, they will certainly have to overcome more challenges.
But considering how Season 2 ended, all those kisses and romance may not come immediately. Aziraphale and Crowley aren’t even in the same realm anymore, with the former in Heaven and the latter on Earth (at least for now), and there will surely be more challenges ahead before they can reunite and reconcile. Still, it’s a relief to know that A good omen Season 3 will not forget the love between the main characters and that they aim for a satisfying ending, which I hope means a “happy ending”.

Season 3, but not without many obstacles and more pain.
As hopeful as Sheen’s words make me for a happy ending in A good omen Season 3, I think there will be a lot more suffering before Aziraphale and Crowley can be together. The only thing that is known about the plot A good omen Season 3 is that it returns to the roots of the series and includes another apocalypse, as Gaiman himself has hinted. In addition, the end of A good omen Season 2 gave a foretaste of the Second Coming when Metatron revealed that this was the next step in Heaven’s plans, and Aziraphale was visibly concerned when he heard this.
I think Crowley and Aziraphale can get their happy ending in A good omen Season 3, but not without many obstacles and more pain (both for the audience and for Aziraphale and Crowley) in the process. Aziraphale and Crowley may have to make some sacrifices to be togethermaybe they give up their immortality to live the most normal life they have ever had. A lot can happen in A good omen Season 3, but hopefully everything leads to a happy ending for Aziraphale and Crowley.
