Moana has another adventure ahead of her.
Auli’i Cravalho’s hero returns in new trailer for Vaiana 2 – The Great Adventurewhich premiered on August 9 as part of D23 and also features Dwayne Johnson’s Maui back in the picture. Cravalho also sang the new song “We’re Back” from the film at the event.
The sequel, a sequel to the 2016 film Vaiana – The wonderful world of lovetakes place three years after her first voyage, and Moana is, according to a synopsis, “on an extensive journey in search of people beyond the coast of Motunui.”
“Along with Maui and an all-new crew of unlikely sailors, Moana must journey to the distant seas of Oceania and dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure like she’s never experienced before.”
The cast also includes Rachel House (Moana’s grandmother Tala), Temuera Morrison (Moana’s father Chief Tui) and Nicole Scherzinger (Moana’s mother Sina), as well as Hualālai Chung, David Fane and Rose Matafeo, Awhimai Fraser, Gerald Ramsey and Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda as Moana’s little sister Simea.

Disney announced the sequel to Vaiana – The wonderful world of love in February and the first teaser trailer was released in May. Vaiana – The wonderful world of love is also set to receive a live-action adaptation, the release of which is currently planned for 2026.
Cravalho, 23, recently told PEOPLE what to expect from her character in the animated sequel: “She’s growing. She’s pushing herself even further beyond the reef now.”

In the nearly eight years since the first film was released, Cravalho felt like she had “grown along with Moana,” she said.
“The recording booth is really my comfort zone and (I’m grateful) to return to this character that I know so well, but also to take her on a completely different journey,” said the Girls Club – Be careful, they bite! Star.
Vaiana 2 – The Great Adventure will be in cinemas on November 27th.
