Yellowstone was expected to end with a fifth and final season, but reports suggest that might not be the case. According to Deadline, Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser – aka fan favorites Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler – have entered negotiations for a sixth installment.
Following Kevin Costner’s exit from the series, Kelly and Cole are currently in talks about the lead roles in future episodes of Yellowstoneand this has been the case for months. While Deadline negotiations, it seems that the actors have not yet reached an official agreement. In the meantime, Season 5B is set to premiere in the fall.
A trailer was released on the show’s Instagram account earlier this week. “Generations of blood have led here. Don’t miss the epic return of Yellowstone on November 10th, only on @paramountnetwork,” the caption read.
The latest chapter will not feature series lead Kevin Costner, who confirmed his exit in June. In a video, he addressed his fans and said: “I want to let you know that after this year and a half of working on Horizon and all the things that go into it, and after thinking about Yellowstone, this beloved show that I love and that I know you love, I just realized that I cannot continue with Season 5B or the future.”
“It was something that really changed me,” he continued. “I loved it. And I know you loved it. And I just wanted to let you know that I’m not going back and that I love the relationship that we were able to build and we’ll see each other in the movies.”
While Kevin turned his attention to the Horizon franchise, his Yellowstone co-stars spent the summer filming series 5B in Montana.
In July, 47-year-old Kelly posted a video from the set. “A few days ago, gratitude poured out of me,” she wrote next to it.
“The kindness of the people. An eagle circling overhead just before the call. A huge herd of elk with their young leading the way home. The horses feeling the breeze as we walked down the hill. My dog that morning at the lake. My husband making me dinner when I came home dead tired.
“The people who continue to put on this wild show do it with all their heart and courage, I am so incredibly proud to walk alongside them. The rawness and beauty of this year’s season is truly special. I can’t wait to share it. November.”
Last week, Kelly delighted her fans with another update from the set. In a photo on a horse, the TV star wrote: “Goodbye Montana and into the dry Texas heat. Yesterday, when I wasn’t filming at @6666ranch, I was able to spend some time doing one of the things I love most. Thanks Dusty for letting me try out the new saddle!!”
