Kelly Ripa says she jumped off a boat to communicate with dolphins

Kelly Ripa has hilariously revealed that she has a special connection with dolphins.

The 53-year-old TV presenter said during the episode of Live with Kelly and Mark that she felt a spiritual connection with the majestic mammals while celebrating a friend’s 50th birthday aboard a boat off the coast of Mexico.

The group had rented a boat for “sunset cocktails” when they suddenly found themselves surrounded by wild dolphins.

Accordingly Weekly entertainmentRipa, whose husband Mark ConsuelosCo-host of the show, then described how the revelation came about. “We had just done the show in Miami, we were at the Seaquarium and I was swimming with the dolphins. We were doing a pre-recorded piece where we communicate with the dolphins. So I, Kelly Ripa, jumped in the water and said, ‘I know how to talk to the dolphins!’ I was like, ‘I’m going to summon them!'” she said.

To the laughter of 53-year-old Consuelos, Ripa went on to say that she did not feel threatened while swimming in the middle of the sea, even though someone in the group had warned her to be careful.

“Our friend Brian was standing at the bow of the boat and said, ‘Kel, get back in the boat. These are wild dolphins, not trained dolphins,'” Ripa said. “But in my head I thought I could talk to the dolphins because I had been speaking to them so fluently.”

The couple, who married in 1996 and have a daughter, Lola (23), and two sons, Michael (27) and Joaquin (21), have previously reported on their encounters with the animal world on the show.

In May, Consuelos shared details of an incident on a beach on Long Island, New York, in which a flock of wild plovers attacked her entire family.

“We were walking along the beach that summer evening, it was sunset, with the kids, the kids were little and running around and the birds were there, playing with the birds. This guy came toward us,” Consuelos recalled. Then the birds began “to dive-attack us and the kids” before the approaching man confronted them.

“He says, ‘You have to leave those birds alone!'” Consuelos said, before Ripa intervened and said, “And Mark said, ‘Then they have to leave us alone!'”

Ripa is known for her hysterical exaggerations and revealed during the July 25 episode Live with Kelly and Mark that she “did something so inappropriate backstage that I would probably be fired right now if we weren’t married.”

An audition for All My Children in 1995 led to a permanent marriage between Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. The Live With Kelly co-hosts and Mark’s relationship has not waned since their eyes first met when Consuelos auditioned for the role of Mateo Santos, who would later become Ripa’s character Hayley Vaughan’s on-screen love. She continued, “I touched his (Consuelos’) pants and they feel fine. But I was like, ‘My goodness, your thighs feel like they’re made of metal or stone.’ Marble! Carved out of marble. I’m standing backstage rubbing up and down his thighs, it seems unimaginable to me. I realize people are looking at us and saying, ‘Are you OK? Are you forgetting you’re in a workplace?’ And the answer is yes!”

Consuelos was co-moderator Live with Kelly and Mark since 17 April 2023, replaced Ryan Seacrest who had filmed his last episode three days earlier.

Ripa and Consuelos get along well both personally and professionally, as the couple also runs a production company called Milojo, which they co-founded in 2007.
