Grupo Clarín announces results for the first half and second quarter of 2024

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA / ACCESSWIRE / August 9, 2024 / Grupo Clarín SA (“Grupo Clarín” or the “Company” – BCBA:GCLA), Argentina’s largest media company, today announced its results for the first half and second quarter of 2024. The figures in this report have been prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.

(“IFRS”) as of June 30, 2024 and are expressed in Argentine pesos (“Ps”) unless otherwise stated.

  • Management has applied IAS 29 in preparing these financial statements (inflation adjustment) in accordance with Resolution 777/18 of the Comisión Nacional de Valores (“CNV”), which requires that the adjustment be applied to the financial statements.

  • Highlights (1H24 vs. 1H23):

  • For the purposes of the analysis, it should be noted that the comparative results presented (1H23) include the effect of inflation compared to the previous year as of June 30, 2024, which was 271.5%.Total revenues amounted to P128,491.1 million, down 37.5% in real terms from H1 2023, mainly due to lower revenues in the digital and print publications and broadcasting and programming segments. Net income for the period amounted to a loss of P10,138.8 million, a change of -383.6% from a profit of P3,575.2 million in 1H 2023. Loss attributable to common shareholders for the period amounted to P10,919.1 million in 1H 2024, compared to a profit of P3,700.4 million in 1H 2023, a change of -395.1%.
