Diddy calls Lil Rod’s lawsuit “pure fiction” in his motion to dismiss

Diddy calls Lil Rod’s lawsuit “pure fiction” in his motion to dismiss

Sean “Diddy” Combs wants a sexual abuse lawsuit filed by music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones to be dismissed.

Combs’ legal team filed a motion to dismiss Jones’ $30 million lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Monday, August 26.

Jones filed the complaint in February 2024, claiming that the Bad Boy Records founder harassed, assaulted, drugged and threatened him.

Weeks later, Jones alleged in an amendment to his complaint that Diddy was part of a “RICO enterprise,” employed a “drug courier,” had a group of women with ties to the music industry on his payroll for sex work, and was involved in a “sex trafficking enterprise.”

According to the document filed on Monday, The Hollywood Reporter, The document seeks to dismiss Lil Rod’s amended complaint on the grounds that he is seeking payment of his claim.

“Mr. Jones’ lawsuit is pure fiction – a shameless attempt to create a media frenzy and get a quick settlement,” Combs’ attorney Erica Wolff said in a statement Monday. “There was no RICO conspiracy and Mr. Jones was not threatened, manipulated, attacked or trafficked. We look forward to proving in court that all of Mr. Jones’ claims are fabricated and must be dismissed.”

In response to the lawsuit, Lil Rod’s attorney Tyrone A. Blackburn called for the dismissal of what he called a “settlement exercise” by Diddy’s new legal team.

“It’s a feeble attempt to line their pockets before he is indicted and they decide to walk away, just like his five previous lawyers have done,” Blackburn said in a statement.

Jones has until September 9 to respond to the motion to dismiss.

In his complaint, Jones said he produced nine tracks on Diddy’s The love album: Off the Grid, which was released in September 2023.

Jones stated that he lived and traveled the world with Combs from September 2022 to November 2023. He said that during his time with the mogul, he was the victim of “constant unsolicited and unauthorized groping and touching.”

Jones also accused actor Cuba Gooding Jr. of sexual assault in the lawsuit. Gooding immediately denied his allegations.

The music producer also claimed that he worked as a photographer and recorded hours of video and audio footage of Combs and his inner circle involved in alleged “illegal activities.”

Diddy has denied all allegations made by Jones and several others in a growing number of abuse lawsuits filed since November 2023.
