Back to Hogwarts: Draco Malfoy star Tom Felton reunites with stuntman David Holmes and THIS Harry Potter co-star

Tom Felton has played a Gryffindor vs Slytherin cricket match with his Harry Potter co-star Matthew Lewis, aka Neville Longbottom, but what’s the verdict? On Tuesday, August 27, Felton shared a picture on Instagram with Lewis and former stuntman David Holmes and announced that “Bloody Longbottom” won the match by one point!

The match was part of Holmes’ annual cricket charity event called the David Holmes Cricket Cup, which was paralysed while working on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. The former stuntman shared details of the 15th annual charity event on Instagram.

The incident occurred after he was paralysed from the chest down by an explosion on set during filming of the seventh installment of the Harry Potter anthology. The incident resulted in a crippling spinal injury and a life-threatening injury.

“Over these 15 years, friends and family have come together in honour of me, which is incredible and has raised money for charity, probably hundreds and thousands of pounds over the years,” Holnes said in the video posted to his Instagram. To keep the competitive spirit alive, he pointed out that Team Gryffindor is leading 8-7 after its recent win.

In November 2023, Daniel Radcliffe collaborated with Holmes – who was primarily his stunt double in the films – to produce the HBO documentary The Boy Who Lived. The title was equal parts a reference to one of Harry Potter’s iconic lines and its literal interpretation referred to Holmes’ survival after the fatal accident.

According to Holmes’ post and a GoFundMe campaign for the event, this year’s match raised funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in the UK, which treated him after his accident and made him an ambassador for the hospital since 2013. Felton has also been associated with the hospital’s children’s charity since 2015.

In a previous social media post, Holmes shared a snap of himself with Lewis and Felton and revealed that the annual event has raised over £100,000 for the UK’s Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital over the years. He continues to share updates about the charity and a few throwbacks here and there to his accident and recovery.
